Milton Law Group Welcomes Michael Blood, CPA, as Director of Operations

Milton Law Group is pleased to announce that Michael Blood, CPA, has joined the firm as Director of Operations. Michael adds a Certified Public Accountant’s perspective to both how the firm runs internally and how it serves clients.

Michael’s role at Milton Law Group

As Director of Operations, Michael leads the firm’s internal operations, financial reporting, and administrative systems. He oversees bookkeeping and monthly financial reporting and continually reviews core processes such as client intake, billing, and document management. The goal of this work is simple: well-organized systems let our attorneys and staff spend more of their time on client matters.

Michael also works directly with clients. He prepares individual income tax returns and handles the accounting work that often accompanies a tax matter, including:

• Organizing financial records
• Reconciling income and expenses
• Reviewing prior-year filings
• Helping clients respond to IRS notices and correspondence, in coordination with the firm’s attorneys

Many of the legal matters we handle depend on having an accurate financial picture. That is true in tax controversy, where the numbers are often in dispute, and in tax planning, where they drive the recommendations. With a CPA on the team, clients can have that accounting work done in the same place as their legal representation.

Background and experience

Michael comes to Milton Law Group with a background in public accounting and internal controls. Most recently, he spent more than three years with Bunzl North America in St. Louis. He joined as a Senior Internal Controls Analyst and was later promoted to Internal Controls Lead, evaluating and strengthening the company’s financial controls and processes.

Earlier in his career, Michael performed financial statement audits as a Senior Audit Associate with EY in St. Louis and, before that, with CBIZ MHM in New York.

Education and credentials

Michael earned his Master of Accountancy from the University of Missouri, where his studies included international coursework in London and Prague. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Missouri and New York and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
